Quickdesign - Step 1 - Options
There are 3 main access levels for this software:
-
Basic Level – This is design carried out strictly to the scope and limitations of AS1684 Framing Code.
-
Professional Level – this level is designed for engineers, and for experienced designers familiar with structural concepts for low rise standard framed structures. An example of people most likely to use this section would be estimators and detailers at truss plants.
-
Engineering Level – this level adds many features to the professional level to permit engineers to assign loads and load case combinations to special elements they may need within a project design.
The requirements for access from Basic Level to Professional Level is a statement supplied by the user to our office requesting the upgrade to the level, stating that they have the experience required and understanding of the design concepts required, and they will commit to do a training session on the software when one is available in their region, or on-line. Once we have received this request, we will forward an updated Key Code for the software providing this access.
To upgrade from any level to the Engineering Level, we require a request from the engineer, or his/her office, and either their state registration number, or membership or NPER number with the Institution of Engineers Australia or IPENZ registration number for New Zealand engineers. Again, once received, we will forward the updated key code.
In Australia, there is a current movement by the ABCB and already a requirement in South Australia, for registration and certification of software that will carry out structural analysis and design. The requirements for quality assurance, and auditing and checking of the software has become quite a significant task, and for 3rd party testing and certification will be very expensive. Therefore, all this will impact on the cost of this type of software development. The problem is not directed at engineer users, but more at non-engineers who are tasked with carrying out design using software that employs engineering principles.
We feel the main issue here is to do with training of the users, not only in the use of the software itself, but also in the methods of load analysis and design of the buildings themselves. For engineers, this training is a basic part of their professional training. For non-engineers, this can only be taught through training and experience in the work-place, or through TAFE courses and similar facilities.
Quickdesign costs $300 + gst per licence, for the first year.
Subsequent yearly subscriptions will be between $100 and $150 + gst.
The 4 buttons below are options that you have to purchase or arrange for purchase of the Key Code for the software.
- Request Trial Key Code - Send an email requesting a 30 day unrestricted Key Code to fully evaluate the software at the level you desire.
- Enter Volume Licence Code – Click here if you have QuickDesign installed as well as a valid Volume Licence Code and wish to unlock QuickDesign.
- Contact us to pay – Use this button to send an email direct to us so that we can contact you either by phone, or email, to process a payment, or arrange an internet bank payment. You will be sent the Key Code once this has been arranged.
- Contact us for volume licence – For many organisations, there are multiple users within the one company. Also, some people may require 2 licences, one for work computer, and one for a home computer. In these cases, you will need a volume key code that you enter, and the number of licences allocated will be reduced. Tthis button to send an email to us to provide you with a volume licence discount scale, and arrange payment for two or more licences. Once the invoice is raised, and payment made, we will send you a Volume Licence Code that can be used to make the individual accesses via button 2 to receive the automatic Key Codes for each machine.
